DentalPlanFinder.co.uk is an independent comparison service for UK dental plans. We compare the major providers — Denplan, Simplyhealth, BUPA, Boots, WPA, and Westfield Health — so that people priced out of NHS dentistry can find affordable private cover with confidence.
Why we exist
More than 13 million adults in England cannot access an NHS dentist. For most of them, the realistic alternative is private dentistry — and a dental plan is often the most affordable way in. But the market is confusing: capitation plans, cash plans, and dental insurance all work differently, and providers rarely make like-for-like comparison easy.
We built DentalPlanFinder.co.uk to fix that. Every plan on this site is reviewed against the same criteria, priced from the same published sources, and presented side by side so you can choose in minutes rather than hours.
How we score dental plans
Every plan receives an overall score out of 10, built from four weighted criteria. Scores are set editorially from providers' published policy documents and pricing — providers cannot pay to improve a score.
Value for money (30%)
Monthly premium relative to the cover provided — annual limits, cashback percentages, and what a typical user gets back per pound paid.
Coverage (30%)
Breadth and depth of cover: routine care, restorative treatment, dental emergencies, oral cancer cover, and the size of annual claim limits.
Flexibility (20%)
Whether you can use any dentist (NHS or private), waiting periods, ease of joining and leaving, and how easily cover levels can be changed.
Customer experience (20%)
Claims process, published customer satisfaction data, complaint volumes where available, and clarity of policy documents.
Where our data comes from
Prices, annual limits, and policy terms are taken from each provider's published policy documents and public price lists. NHS charge bands are taken from the official NHS England fee schedule. Regional private treatment costs are compiled from published practice price lists across the UK.
We review plan pricing and terms quarterly, and sooner when a provider announces changes. Each review and guide shows when it was last updated. If you spot something out of date, email us at info@dentalplanfinder.co.uk and we will correct it.
How we make money
DentalPlanFinder.co.uk is reader-supported. When you sign up for a plan through some of the links on this site, we may earn a commission from the provider. This is how we fund the service — it costs you nothing extra.
