How much does Denplan cost per month?
Denplan typically costs £13–£22 a month in 2026: from around £13/month on Essentials and £15–£22/month on Care. The fee is set by your dentist after an assessment, so it may be lower if your teeth are in excellent condition, or higher if you require more complex care.
Can I use any dentist?
No. This plan only works through registered member dentists. You must be registered with a specific practice and cannot transfer to a different dentist unless they are also a member.
Do I need a dental assessment before joining?
Yes. You typically need an initial assessment before enrollment. This allows your dentist to set the correct monthly fee based on your current oral health condition.
Does this cover dental emergencies?
Standard plans (Essentials and Care) do not automatically include emergency cover. Add the Supplementary tier for an extra £0.60/month, which covers emergency treatment and dental injuries in the UK and worldwide.
Is Denplan worth it?
Denplan is worth it if you have a Denplan member dentist, visit regularly and expect restorative work: Care covers check-ups, hygiene, fillings, crowns and root canals in one fixed fee with no annual limits, so a single crown year (£640–£900 privately) can exceed a whole year of fees. How is this different from dental insurance?
This is a capitation plan, not insurance. Your dentist receives a monthly fee and provides all agreed treatment. There are no annual claim limits and no need to claim back costs. Dental insurance (like BUPA) is a separate product where you pay premiums and claim.
Can I cancel Denplan?
Yes. Denplan contracts need 21 days' notice to Denplan and to your practice, and the agreement then ends on the last day of that calendar month; there is also a 14-day cooling-off period when you first join. Check with your practice whether any treatment in progress needs settling before you leave.
